When Shopify processes an order, the customers are notified automatically about order, shipping etc… Unfortunately, it is not possible to disable Shopify notifications for these actions. However, it is possible to disable Shopify notifications for a few actions when the order is being processed. You can disable notifications related to order cancellation, refund, shipping confirmation, and tracking number.
How to disable Shopify notifications:
Order cancellation
When a customer cancels an order, Shopify notifies them about it. But, it is possible to disable Shopify notifications about the cancellation.
- First, go to Orders and from the page find the order that you want to disable notification for.
- Next, click on the Order number for that order.
- Then click on More actions and select Cancel order.
- Fill the order details and then uncheck the Send a notification to customer checkbox.
- Finally, click on Cancel order.
Order refund
When a customer requests for a refund, Shopify notifies when the refund goes through. However, it is possible to disable Shopify notifications so that the customer doesn’t get an email.
- First, go to Orders and from the page find the order that you want to disable notification for.
- Then click on the order number for that order.
- Next, click on Refund.
- Fill the order details and then uncheck the Send a notification to customer checkbox.
- Finally, click on Refund.
Shipping confirmation
When an order is confirmed and the seller ships the product, the customers get notifications about the shipment details.
- First, go to Orders and from the page find the order that you want to disable notification for.
- Click on the order number for that order and press Continue.
- Fill the order details and then uncheck the Send shipment details to your customer now check box.
Tracking number
Shipping detail updates such as new tracking number or carrier are sent to the customers. It is possible to disable Shopify notifications for this action.
- First, go to Orders and from the page find the order that you want to disable notification for.
- Click on the order number for that order and press Continue.
- Under Fulfillments, click on More and then Edit tracking.
- Fill the order details and then uncheck the Send a notification to customer checkbox.
- Click on Save before closing.
