In Shopify, there is a database of your orders and transaction history. There are plenty of reasons a store owner will want to export Shopify orders, such as for accounting purposes, analysis etc. Incidentally, you can export Shopify orders easily into a CSV file. Once you export the file to CSV, then you can view and edit it in Excel.
Export Shopify Orders
To export Shopify orders from your account
- Open the Orders section from your Shopify store admin page.
- Choose the number of orders you need to export.
- Click on Export near the top left part of the orders section.
- Select the type of CSV file. Usually, most users are familiar with Excel, so select the option CSV for Excel.
- You can then select the Export Orders option to export the orders.
- Additionally, you can also select the Export transaction option to export only the details you need.
- This downloads the CSV file to your default download location on your computer.
In addition, it is also possible to export Shopify orders from specific dates.
- Open the Orders section from your Shopify store admin page.
- Click on Export near the top left part of the orders section.
- Choose the Orders by date option.
- Select the date range for which you need the history.
- You can download the CSV file similar to the previous method.
- The CSV file with order history for the time period you chose is downloaded to your computer.

When you open the downloaded CSV file on your excel software, it has all the possible order or transaction details neatly columned in the spreadsheet. It has details as basic as the customer’s name, phone, email etc.; the order details such as the order status, when it was fulfilled etc.; payment details such as currency, payment date, shipping, taxes etc.; Shipping details such as Shipping address, tracking number and more.
